About Us
Marhaban!
Hello! I am Ada of AdaPerforms, and I come from a lifetime of theatre, dance, stage, and performance experience. I am told that I was born performing, but that is a story for another time. I was just 10 years old when I saw my very first belly dancer. I remember her entering the stage, a sequined costume of red and gold in a flurry of motion, hips moving fluidly under the sparkling sun, hands and fingers exuding an ancestral grace to the rhythm of drums and the tinkle of bells. I watched as she expressed emotions that cannot be spoken in words, and I felt the music ripple through me. It was that day that I fell in love with belly dancing.
Time moves on, but dreams never die, and 27 years later I am realizing mine. It took time and countless experiences, both good and bad, as well as exploring different forms of dance before I reunited with my love of belly dancing, but I am endlessly grateful for this journey.
In the breakroom of my day job, wearing my paramedic uniform (alas, no sequins), I am fortunate enough to be cutting my own path by building my very own belly dance website, and solidifying the dream that inspired me in my youth.
It wasn't until 2014 that I attended my very first belly dance class with the inspirational Melanie LaJoie of ‘A Magi World Dance’. I was swept under her wing from the very beginning, and soon Ms. Melanie had become my very own ‘Fairy Dance Mother’, showing me not only what I was capable of, but helping me to build the foundations of confidence I needed as a budding belly dancer.
With Ms. Melanie’s support and guidance, I began performing at special events through Universal Studios, landing my first regular restaurant show at Taverna Opa, and securing further private events. And thus, my dream of professional dancing had come true.
For 10 years I continued to train under Ms. Melanie, and while I had begun to pursue dreams and goals that were unrelated to dance, I never compromised on my regular performances, and my passion for movement always drew me back to belly dance.
Enter Mr. Ahmed Hussien, a dancer and renowned mentor in a variety of dance styles including Egyptian dance, ballet, ballroom, jazz, and Broadway. It was time to devote myself to dance and elevate my skills. I became a student of Mr. Hussien, and with his mentorship I found myself excelling at my art, in mind, body and spirit, culminating in one of the highest honours, and fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine, the opportunity to dance in Egypt. It was an experience on a spiritual level that words will never fully capture. Thanks to Mr. Hussien, I have reached new heights in my skills, and have ventured into competitions, with plans to undertake many more in the future under his keen guidance.

My dancing style has evolved with me over the last ten years. Through my passion for culture, my love of movement, and the influence of my mentors, I have nurtured my particular affinity with authentic Egyptian styles.
My performances are largely improvised. I believe in following my heart, allowing the rhythm to guide my movements, and trusting in my own interpretation of the music to truly embrace the beauty and complexity of Egyptian dance.
I am endlessly inspired by music and movement, to listen, to move, and to feel with the rhythm of Egypt in my heart. I invite you to experience the enchantment that belly dance has to offer, and with me as your guide we can create magic for a truly unique and inspiring event, every single time. Let’s dance!
